Treatment Plan

We offer a treatment plan split into three phases. You decide which phases of treatment best suit your needs. This is a typical treatment plan for someone who's pain has recently started.

Phase 1, Pain Relief: Treatment to reducing any inflammation, joint stiffness, muscle spasm and nerve pressure all help to relieve your pain. Initial treatment is often recommended 1-2x per week until your pain is significantly better.
Ice packs maybe suggested to reduce inflammation and stretching exercises recommended to help with mobility.

Keeping active while avoiding heavy exercise usually speeds up your recovery process. Some discomfort may be experienced initially after treatment as stiff muscles start moving again, this is often like the muscle ache the day after doing too much exercise.

Phase 2, Rehabilitation Care: When your pain is mostly relieved our next aim is to restore strength and coordination to muscles and to maintain mobility in the joints. This should help you return to your normal activities without the pain returning.

Now treatments are less frequent, often every 2-4 weeks. Different exercises and activities are recommended to strengthen weakened areas. Normally your progress is less dramatic through this phase. It is often at this stage that our patients feel better and wonder if there is any more benefit to the treatment. If you continue until the full healing of your muscles and soft tissues has occurred, a relapse is less likely.

Phase 3, Maintenance Care: Now the aim is to keep the good movement, strength and coordination that you've achieved. Through check-ups every 1-3 months any changes in your muscles and joints can be detected and corrected before you start to experience pain and discomfort. We think prevention is better than cure.
