Low back pain causes untold suffering and millions of pounds of lost work every day
Many different factors can be responsible for low back pain.
Improper sitting, over exertion, trauma or inherited spinal anomalies may contribute to the cause of lower back pain.
A stiff or weak hip, knee or ankle joint, as well as fallen arches (flat feet) will all place more pressure on the low back.
Many of the pain sensing nerves of the spine are in facet joints, the two interlocking “fingers” at the back of each spinal bone, the normally smooth surfaces on which joints glide can become rough, irritated and inflamed causing pain.
Another cause of lower back pain can be a bulging disc putting pressure on part of the sciatic nerve which results in pressure on the nerve and often pain, numbness, tingling or burning down the leg.
Surgical treatment isn’t always successful, carries risks and rarely addresses the structural cause(s) for these problems. Cutting away the bulging disc can permanently alter its ability to separate and cushion the adjacent bones.
Chiropractic adjustments can help restore a more normal motion and position of affected spinal bones and is safer and has been shown to be more effective than medical care for low back pain. We have helped many, but not all our patients avoid surgery.
The sooner the problem is treated the greater the success. If you are in pain or even have an annoying niggle, then please come and see us to discuss a treatment plan.
